In the Prejudice Project, back-looping is explored through a course entitled Loop – Deconstructing the Prototypical Shed. In this course, students will learn architecture through a reversal in learning. Rather than following the traditional cycle for an architectural project where one draws, builds, and demolishes, students will start with a completed shed and deconstruct it. Through this process of reversal, the void of architectural knowledge left from years of emphasis on design will be put aside for material lifecycle management, recycling and construction. It will also force students to learn by making – reinforcing the knowledge they have theoretically understood through drawing joinery details in previous classes but with a more tactile and practical approach.
