Due to technological advancement, a divide has rifted architects from the construction industry, alienating architects from the construction process. Design-make-play is a learning methodology that emphasizes with the personal, hands-on nature of making, the simple pleasures of figuring out how things work where making as an activity becomes a space for explorative and collaborative learning. Design ideas will be tested in ways that allows one to check expectations against reality, a process that can create conceptual adaptation and such physical creation will allow participants to socially engage and reach a common goal; a configuration that often proves fruitful for learning. Through explorations of digital and physical technologies, students will explore ideas, learn technical skills, and create new products. For this course, students in groups are required to build and design a 1 :1 scale cube that represents an architect of choice. Weekly documentations are required for portfolio work at the end of the course and a presentation is expected at the end of the term.
