Society introduces a timeline to us where we often feel we need to pursue specific steps at a particular moment in time regardless of if we personally feel we are prepared. With a lack of preparation, it becomes easier for one to possibly get lost and then wonder for a period a time before/if they feel they have found the right path for them. I was a nomad while completing my undergraduate degree, moving from major to major. Although going through a journey is beneficial as you are exposed to more learning opportunities and gain important experiences, without proper assistance it will be difficult to complete one’s expedition successfully. Typically, right before embarking onto new territory or as soon as you arrive, an initial step taken is to become accustomed with the ways and practices of one’s new surroundings. This step becomes even more imperative in the transition between your academic and industry career. An atlas of conventions was created in an attempt to bridge over a number of areas of uncertainty as one enters the workforce directly after school.
